Kakao 상담Talk uses a "billing method based on chat room units".
In other words, each time a customer and a consultant start a conversation on KakaoTalk, ‘one consultation session’ is opened,
and one fee is charged for each session.
To summarize the key points, there are exactly 3
1) When a customer presses the 상담톡 button and a new chat room opens = 1 charge
Examples:
Clicking the “Consult” button
Starting consultation in the Talk Channel
Connecting KakaoTalk consultation from a website/app
At this time, a new chat room is created, so 1 charge applies.
2) No additional fees while the conversation continues
Whether the conversation continues throughout the day,
or the reply comes after 10 minutes,
or several messages are exchanged, no additional charges apply.
In other words, ‘1 chat room = 1 charge’
However, chat rooms are based on a 24-hour period, and new charges are added at 4:00 AM.
3) If a customer leaves and re-enters, or starts again the next day = new charge
If the customer or consultant sends "!종료" to leave the chat room and then clicks “Consult” again
If the customer revisits the next day and clicks “Consult” again (new charge based on 4:00 AM)
→ A new consultation session starts, so 1 additional charge applies
Understanding with a simple example
| Situation | Billing |
|---|---|
| Customer clicks “Consult” to start a conversation | ✔ 1 charge |
| Exchanged 20 messages during consultation | ❌ No additional charges |
| Clicked “Consult” again the next day | ✔ 1 additional charge |
| Customer left the chat room and re-entered | ✔ 1 additional charge |
| Resumed conversation the next day without ending consultation | ✔ 1 additional charge (charge added at 4:00 AM) |
Note: Kakao charges by “consultation sessions,” not by “message count”
Therefore, even if the consultation is long, the cost does not increase significantly,
and conversely, if customers come and go quickly, the counts accumulate.
Chat room fee billing method
The fee is 100 KRW per chat room, and it is combined and billed with the subscription fee or communication bill of the following month. Invoices are usually issued by email between the 15th and 21st of each month.
